Biological Science Technician

Identify and inventory non-native invasive plant species Assist with the management and control of infestations of invasive plant species through various mechanical and chemical methods Participate in monitoring new and treated populations of invasive plant species Maintain information using Geographical Information System (GIS) Assist in the control of invasive plant species by cutting vegetation with hand tools and applying herbicide with various types of spray equipment including back-pack sprayers and ATV mounted sprayers Install, operate, and/or maintain equipment such as backpack sprayers, ATV, and equipment mounted broadcast sprayers, hand tools, etc. Only experience and education obtained by Minimum Qualification Requirements for GS 0404-04 (must meet A,B, or C) A. Possess at least 6 months of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-3 grade level AND 6 months of general experience. Examples of specialized experience may include:
General knowledge of principles, practices and terminology related to identifying native and exotic plant species; performing exotic plant control with the application of herbicides; performing manual and mechanical exotic plant control such as pulling or cutting using chainsaws; maintaining spray equipment, and complying with the requirements for application, storage, and handling of pesticides; maintaining detailed treatment and inventory records of invasive plant species OR B. Successfully completed 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must be directly related to the position to be filled. OR C. Possess a combination of education and experience. Determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the 1 year of experience required for GS-4; then determine your education as a percentage of the 2 years of education that meets the requirements for GS-4. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for GS-4. Physical Demands/Work Environment:
The work requires strenuous physical exertion, including long periods of standing, reaching, bending, and walking in thick vegetation. Frequently lifts and moves objects weighing 40 pounds or more. Most work is performed outdoors with some work conducted in an office setting. Temperature and weather extremes may be encountered in the performance of the outdoor work. Employee is encouraged to use repellents, wear protective equipment, and generally take caution to avoid encounters with stinging and biting insects and snakes. Safety precautions must also be taken in operating ATVs, UTVs, and working with pesticides. The employee is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow workers, or property with which entrusted.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
